BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Mel Hobart-Beaumari (Dr. HB) was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2006 with a liberal arts degree focused on German and dance. This unlikely degree combination happily launched her into a wonderful modern dance career supplemented by writing for local newspapers and private clients. Having delved into the rich medicinal plant biodiversity of the Appalachian mountains, the discovery of naturopathic medicine was enough to send her back to convert her liberal arts degree into pre-med and apply to medical schools. She completed her ND degree in 2019 and subsequently completed three years of a teaching residency including a year as chief resident.

Trained as a primary care physician with an initital focus on women’s health and community health, Dr. HB approaches the patient encounter as a collaborative venture between doctor and patient to determine the best course of action to improve health and enjoyment of life. As an integrative provider, Dr. HB believes strongly that patients should know their full option of treatments and utilizes a wide variety of modalities including botanical medicine, nutrient supplements, lifestyle change, physical medicine and pharmaceutical medications. Dr. HB is passionate about health equity and ensuring that underserved communities find robust healthcare that feels supportive and affirming.
When not practing medicine and teaching, Dr. HB can be found outdoors with her family. Hiking, climbing, camping and kayaking are focuses for bigger adventures, while on quiet days Dr. HB can be found drinking coffee in her garden and scheming about what to grow next. She is also a quilter and a voracious reader who has piles of books on every possible surface where she might sit long enough to start reading.
