BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Erinn O’Brien (she/her) was born and raised in Arizona. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a focus in learning and behavior. She worked in behavioral health with children and young adults with autism for nine years, providing care in their homes, a private K-12 school, and an integrative therapy practice. This opened her eyes to the importance of collaborative care and putting the individual at the center to ensure their needs are addressed in meaningful and long-lasting ways. It was while accompanying a family to a doctor’s appointment that she saw naturopathic medicine in action. She was inspired by the time the doctor took to listen to the family’s concerns, connect to the child, and their expertise in guiding them through their medical options.
Dr. O’Brien studied naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University and went on to complete a two-year family medicine residency through the Institute of Natural Medicine at Fern Valley Natural Health. Following residency, she stayed at Fern Valley providing integrative primary care medicine for infants, children, adolescents and adults. She prioritizes coordination of care between families, specialists, therapists and academic institutions to help facilitate health in various areas of a developing child’s life.
While working as a PCP during the pandemic, Dr. O’Brien saw firsthand the rise in mental health crises. In order to better meet her patient’s needs, she sought additional training to provide more comprehensive care for mental health concerns, completing a certificate in nutrition for mental health care through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute and additional medication training through Psychopharmacology Institute. She believes in providing a judgment-free space for patients to explore their treatment options with the support of their doctor.
Outside of the office, Dr. O’Brien will be found leaning into her queer community, exploring and sometimes getting mildly lost in the woods, and drinking all the coffee.
