BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Erinn O’Brien (she/her) is a naturopathic primary care physician with a special focus on pediatrics and integrative mental health, caring for infants, children, adolescents, and adults across the lifespan.

Born and raised in Arizona, Dr. O’Brien graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, concentrating in learning and behavior. For nine years, she worked in behavioral health with children and young adults with autism, providing care in their homes, in a private K-12 school, and in an integrative therapy practice. That experience shaped her conviction that truly effective care is collaborative and centered on the individual — an approach she first saw modeled in medicine while accompanying a family to a naturopathic doctor’s appointment. She was struck by how much time the physician took to listen to the family’s concerns, connect with the child, and thoughtfully guide them through their options.

Dr. O’Brien went on to study naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University, followed by a two-year family medicine residency through the Institute of Natural Medicine at Fern Valley Natural Health. Following residency, she remained at Fern Valley providing integrative primary care for patients of all ages. She places particular emphasis on coordinating care between families, specialists, therapists, and academic institutions to support health across the many domains of a developing child’s life.

While practicing as a primary care physician during the pandemic, Dr. O’Brien witnessed firsthand the rise in mental health crises among her patients — especially children and adolescents. To better meet their needs, she pursued advanced training in integrative mental health, completing a certificate in nutrition for mental health care through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute and additional coursework through the Psychopharmacology Institute. She is committed to offering a judgment-free space where patients and families can thoughtfully explore their options — from nutrition, botanicals, and lifestyle medicine to conventional pharmacotherapy when appropriate — with the full support of their doctor.

Outside of the office, Dr. O’Brien can be found leaning into her queer community, exploring (and occasionally getting mildly lost in) the woods, and drinking all the coffee.
