BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Aarin Benson is a naturopathic physician who graduated from Bastyr University in 2003, after getting her Bachelor of Arts in women’s health at the University of Michigan in 1999. She trained in massage therapy and craniosacral therapy in 2001, including advanced training in pediatric craniosacral. In 2009 she completed NAET trainings to treat allergies, eczema, etc. Dr. Benson grew up in the midwest in Iowa City and Springfield, Missouri. Her father was an ER physician, so she spent many days hanging out at the hospital which inspired her to go into medicine. She has three children who ensure life is always exciting. Spending time in nature, dancing, hiking, drawing flowers and playing with her kids are a few ways that she enjoys life outside of work.

Dr. Benson has worked in various clinical settings from owning her own practice in Colorado to a high volume, low income primary care clinic in Portland. She joined CIM in January of 2022. Naturopathic modalities are emphasized and discussed, but she values the advantages of conventional medicine and utilizes medications when indicated. Treatment plans are typically a blend of options and are individualized and designed to remove obstacles to healing, enhance vitality and optimize quality of life. She has significant experience and passion for women’s health, especially perimenopause and menopause support, weight loss (including GLP-1 agonist medications) and treating the nervous system, headaches and musculoskeletal pain with craniosacral therapy. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is hearing peoples’ stories, and she feels that it is an honor to be included in her patients’ healing process.

From Allison:

I am very grateful to have found Dr. Aarin Benson. Her clinical interests are a great help for my primary care and my family’s. I appreciate the entire team’s welcoming presence and feel very at home and heard throughout my visits and while calling to schedule or discuss any concerns.
