BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Ashley Gundermann grew up in Washington state and earned her bachelor’s degree at Western Washington University. After completing her undergraduate education, she served two years in the Peace Corps as a Community Health Volunteer in Uganda. She spent an additional three years working in Europe, before returning to Washington to pursue her doctorate in naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University. While at Bastyr, she focused her elective work in nutrition, studying the whole foods approach, intuitive eating, as well as ayurvedic nutrition. She is a proponent of Health at Every Size (HAES) and has a personal interest in intermittent fasting.

Dr. Gundermann loves practicing integrative primary care and functional medicine. Her mission is to treat the whole person, and she is passionate about providing care which addresses physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. She values an interprofessional approach to medicine and appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with different types of health professionals.

Apart from primary care, her clinical interests include women’s health, acne, thyroid management, hormone replacement therapy, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, headaches, migraines, stress management and psychological conditions such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. She has a keen interest in new and emerging approaches to mental health care. She also enjoys helping patients incorporate meditation and mindfulness practices into their lives.

Her love for functional medicine has led her to complete several different trainings through the Institute for Functional Medicine. She is also an experienced medical interpreter and available to provide medical care in Spanish.

Dr. Gundermann has been an athlete since her youth, and sports and exercise have always been an important part of her life. She spent years working in the fitness industry and is certified as a personal trainer and yoga instructor. She is always excited when she has the opportunity to assist patients with solutions to exercise obstacles and help them find joy in movement.
