BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Aarin Benson is a naturopathic physician who graduated from Bastyr University in 2003, after getting her Bachelor of Arts in women’s health at the University of Michigan in 1999.  Dr. Benson grew up in the midwest in Iowa City and Springfield, Missouri. Her father was an ER physician, so she spent many days hanging out in his office at the hospital which inspired her to go into medicine.  She has three children who ensure life is always exciting. Spending time in nature, bellydancing, hiking, drawing flowers and playing with her kids are a few ways that she enjoys life outside of work.

For all of her patients, treatment plans are individualized and designed to remove obstacles to healing, enhance vitality and optimize quality of life.  She treats people of all ages and enjoys working with families.  She has spent the past seven years working in high volume primary care clinics in Portland, OR, so she has a solid foundation in primary care and pediatrics. Prior to that, she practiced in Colorado and also worked at A Woman’s Time with Dr. Tori Hudson. Naturopathic modalities are emphasized and discussed, but she values the advantages of conventional medicine and utilizes medications when indicated. Treatment plans are typically a blend of options to create the best fit for the patient. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is hearing peoples’ stories, and she feels that it is an honor to be included in her patients’ healing process.

Dr. Benson has trained in the following programs to augment her offerings to patients:

  • Craniosacral therapy (including advanced trauma/somatic release and pediatrics)
  • Reiki
  • Nambudripod’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET)
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
  • Gupta Neural Retraining Program
  • SIBO Mastery Program
  • Labor and delivery doula
  • Naturopathic Midwifery Program at Bastyr University (*not a practicing midwife)
